Richard C. Hill began publishing the The Friendship Chronicle on Feb 11, 1880.   J. Welland Hendrick became associated with the paper in August 1880 and took over the paper in Janury 1881, when Mr. Hill retired as editor.  Mr. Hendrick continued publishing the paper until August. 1881.

This index covers, Vol. 1, No. 9 through Vol. 2, No. 30.  Only the Friendship section was indexed.  Regular columns include:  Town Topics, Gossip, Chronicle Correspondence - Notes From News-gathers from all Points (including other towns in Allegany County.)

Presently No. 9 is completed.  Other issues will be added as completed.
