The Mustache Club

Cuba Centennial Brings Memories of Mustache Club

Unfortunately, the pictures with this story were not clear enough to reproduce here.

Twenty five years ago a group of Cuba men, during January of 1925, formed what they called the Cuba Mustache Club, agreeing to raise mustaches with which they would parade on Easter Sunday of that year.  The upper pictures shows the twenty men as they appeared that Easter Sunday.  [picture not shown].  Reading from left to right are: Front row:  Arch Schyler, Manley Cooper, Dutch Hartley, Larry Easton, Sid Hixson, Dr. H. G. Chamberlain, Harold Wiltse, Judge W. M. Hopkins; Middle Row: Eddie Peterson, Paul Boedeker, Harry Yaw, John Robertson, Charlie Warner; Back Row:  Bill Sheehan, Frank McLaughlin, Deck Brown, Roi Robinson, Reynold Studley, Eddie Adams, Jack Watson.

Two weeks ago nineteen of the twenty members of the original Cuba Mustache Club met and had the lower picture taken. All the original members of the club are still living. the Twentieth man, Harry Yaw, is living in East Aurora but was unable to be present for the picture. IN the lower picture, left to right are seen:  front Row: Arch Schuyler, Manley Cooper, Dutch Hartley, Larry EAston, Sid Hixson, Dr. H. G. Chamberlain, Harold Wiltse, Judge W. M. Hopkins, Middle Row: Bill Sheehan, Frank McLaughlin, Deck Brown, Eddie Peterson, Paul Boedeker, Jack Watson, John Robertson, Charlie Warner, Back Row:  Rol Robinson, Reynold Studley, Eddie Adams.

The beards worn by several of the men seen in the lower picture are being grown in connection with the coming centennial celebration in Cuba.
