LaVerne Stephen Rogers

Cuba. Aug 23.-- LaVerne Stephen Rogers, manager of the Wilson Clothing Store here, passed away shortly after noon today at the Cuba memorial Hospital.  Mr. Rogers was stricken at midnight Monday and was removed to the hospital in a coma.

He was born at Black Creek, December 6, 1896, the son of Alva and Isabelle Rogers.  He attended Cuba High School, enlisting in the United States Army for World War service shortly before his graduation.  His diploma was sent to him in camp.

One of the first to enlist from Cuba, Mr. Rogers served with the 15th field Artillery and 325th Field Artillery.  He was commissioned a second lieutenant at Saumur, France.  He served fourteen months.

July 23, 1921, Mr. Rogers was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Wilson, who survives him as do a daughter, Rosanne; two brothers, Leslie, of Utica, Burt, of Niagara Falls, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Green, of Cuba.

Mr. Rogers was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, vestryman of Christ Church, Post Commander of Cuba Post of the American Legion, Past President of the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, member of the Exchange Club and was actively interested in boys' work, having been until a year ago, scoutmaster of Troop 8, Boy Scouts of America.

No arrangements have been made for the funeral.
