Lee Fassett

Wellsville - Lee Fassett, 52, prominent attorney of this city, died in his home in Main Street here Wednesday night at 6:15 o'clock. He was born Dec. 25, 1879, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Fassett and had been practically a life long resident of Wellsville.

Mr. Fassett was stricken on Dec. 9 with yellow jaundice which was followed by complications. He lapsed into a coma on Sunday from which he never rallied.

He was married March 17, 1904, to Jessica Mary E. Carroll, who survives him along with one daughter, Cynthia Parmenter Fassett and his mother, Cora Lee Fassett.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon in the home with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Fassett served as district attorney of Allegany County for two terms from 1917 to 1923 having been appointed to fill the unexpired term of James T. Ward in August 1917. During his term as district attorney he also served as county judge and surrogate upon teh death of Judge Elba Reynolds.

Less than a year ago he was appointed to the David A. Howell Library Board to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Emma McCune. He was prominent in Masonic circles and was a member of teh F. and A. M. 230 Wellsville Chapter, 143, R.A.M., Ismalia Temple, Buffalo, and a life member of Corning Consistory. He was attorney for the Board of Education of this city and served serveral corporation.

Mr. Fassett was graduated from Columbia in June 1903. He was admitted to the bar July 2, 1903. He was permitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Oklahoma on June 7, 1905 and was licensed in the District Court of United States, Western District of New York May 17, 1906.
