Spencer Lyon was born in Waterbury Vermont in 1797, the son of Lemuel and Jarusha (Daniels) Lyon. He married Betsy Ricker of Waterboro, Maine in 1816. Shortly after the birth of their second child, they came to Allegany County and settled in what is now the town of New Hudson. Spencer died in 1873 at the age of 75.
